Danehill Legacy Dominates

19th May 2007

The Hunter Thoroughbred Breeders Association awards announced in Scone during the week highlighted the overwhelming influence of Danehill in Australia with all bar one of the winners featuring a connection to the great sire.

His grand-son Choisir took out Champion First Season Sire, while his Golden Slipper winning son Flying Spur was named Champion Sire.

The title of Champion Two Year Old was bestowed upon the Flying Spur filly Forensics, while Champion Three Year Old went to Miss Finland, who is by another of his sire sons in Redoute’s Choice.

Sire sons of Danehill also produced five individual stakes-winners in Australia on Saturday led by the Nothin’ Leica Dane mare Cinque Cento, who won the Group One BTC Doomben Cup in Brisbane.

She was joined by champion sprinting filly Gold Edition (Group Three BTC Classic), Queensland Oaks contender Lasoron (Group Three BTC Doomben Roses), rising sprinter Friday Creek (Group Three BTC Sprint) and stakes-winning Victorian juvenile Masked Assassin (Listed VRC Gibson Carmichael Stakes).

Sons of Danehill are a proven commodity on the global sire market and Coolmore will shuttle three new sons of the legendary sire to Australia this spring in Holy Roman Emperor, Aussie Rules and Ivan Denisovich.
