Hawk Wing colt on mark at York

17th May 2007

Trainers have been full of praise for Hawk Wing’s first crop of two-year-olds and one of those - Feared In Flight (2c Hawk Wing-Solar Crystal by Alzao) - put his sire on the scoresheet when landing a five-furlong maiden at York.

For good measure, the Howard Johnson-trained Montaquila (2c Hawk Wing-Intellectuelle by Caerleon), ran an eyecatching third for Hawk Wing and breeders Ridgecourt Stud.

Bred by Tom Wilson’s T W Bloodstock, the Barry Hills-trained Feared In Flight is likely to next contest the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot.

"I've not done that much with him but he was pretty fit," said Hills. "He's walked out of the stalls but Mick (Kinane) gave him the chance to find his feet and he's probably got a bit of class."
