Three Group Ones on Trot for ‘The Biscuit’

12th May 2007

The Gai Waterhouse trained Bentley Biscuit (5g Peintre Celebre – Tycoon Joy, by Last Tycoon) scored a scintillating win at Doomben in the Group One BTC Cup over 1200 metres on Saturday.

The baldy-faced chestnut was slowly away and drifted back to last in the early stages, but under a cool ride from Nash Rawiller, Bentley Biscuit unleashed a phenomenal finishing burst to reel in champion sprinter Takeover Target and win by a short neck in blistering time of 1:08.57.

"He's definitely the best sprinter in Australia," Waterhouse said.

"Miss Andretti deserves to be one of the favourites for Horse Of The Year after what she has done but he's now the best in Australia."

Bentley Biscuit will join fellow Australians Takeover Target, Miss Andretti and Magnus when they fly to England next month for Royal Ascot.

A $120,000 purchase for Waterhouse from the draft of Edinglassie Stud at the 2003 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, the son of Peintre Celebre has won $1,446,725 in winning 12 of 18 starts, culminating in three Group One wins at his last three starts.

Raced by George Mooratoff and his trainer Gai Waterhouse, Bentley Biscuit was bred by Davilora Lodge and is the second foal of the Last Tycoon mare Tycoon Joy, a member of the blue chip Denise’s Joy clan.

Tycoon Joy produced a filly for Davilora Lodge last spring by champion sprinter Fastnet Rock.
