Gold Coast Bracelet Fits Santagostino

5th May 2007

New Zealand raider Santagostino (3f Giant’s Causeway – Devil’s Lair, by Sir Tristram) created a good impression with a powerful win in the Listed Gold Coast Bracelet over 1800 metres on Saturday, defeating another smart type in Rose of Sharon (3f Encosta de Lago – Rose Reward, by Sir Tristram).

The Mark Walker trained filly was turned out in magnificent order and ran up to her good looks in scoring by a length in a performance that will have her favourite for the Group One QTC Queensland Oaks on June 2.

Already a Group Two winner in New Zealand of the Great Northern Guineas over 2100 metres, Santagostino could well provide her sire with his first Southern Hemisphere Group One winner.

Bred and retained to race by the Vela family, Santagostino is a half-sister to New Zealand Oaks winner Vapour Trail and stakes-placed Glenview Lass being from the unraced Sir Tristram mare Devil’s Lair.

Santagostino is one of two Southern Hemisphere bred stakes-winners for Giant’s Causeway this season joining the two year-old Murjana, an impressive Listed winner in Adelaide.
