Golan's son Regime heads to Epsom Derby after G3 win

29th April 2007

Golan has a live contender for this year’s G1 Epsom Derby after Regime (3c Golan-Juno Madonna by Sadler’s Wells) ran out a hugely impressive two-length winner of the G3 Betfredpoker Classic Trial at Sandown under Frankie Dettori.

Trained by Michael Bell for Highclere Thoroughbred Racing, the winner was bred by Philip Brady and bought for 120,000 euros at Goffs as a yearling by John Warren.

"Looking at it, he will definitely improve from this and Frankie said he felt a mile and a half was well within his range," said Bell. "He’s done it very well and has got the scope and has to be a live Derby candidate now. I don't know if he will run again now, that was his Derby trial really."
