22nd April 2007
Champion sprinter Choisir has been on fire in both hemispheres with five winners so far in Europe, five in Australia and one in South Africa last Thursday. Two year-old filly Lady Bonzer (2f Choisir - Lady Durelle, by Raveneaux) opened her account by winning a juvenile maiden plate for fillies over 1200 metres at Vaal.
Prepared by Charles Laird, the Choisir filly was purchased for $90,000 from the draft of Edinglassie Stud at the 2006 Magic Millions Yearling Sale and is a half-sister to stakes-winner Queen Carey and Group One placed Zarek, being the seventh foal of the Raveneaux mare Lady Durelle.
Overnight in South Africa, Choisir had another place-getter when Queens Flight (2f Choisir - Royal Proclomation, by Kingmambo) finished third on debut at Scottsville over 1000 metres.
Bred and offered for sale by The Oaks Stud, Queens Flight fetched $100,000 at the 2006 NZB Premier Yearling Sale and is the fourth foal of the Kingmambo mare Royal Proclomation, a half-sister to dual US Group One winner Tactile.
