Impressive Debut for Half-Brother to Racing to Win
21st April 2007
Exciting prospect Purrealist (2c Tale of the Cat – Surrealist, by Kenny’s Best Pal) launched his career with a fast finishing debut win at Sandown on Saturday, zooming to the line to post a half-length victory in the 1200 metre open event for juveniles.Trained by Danny O’Brien for a syndicate including Tony Santic and Michael Sullivan, Purrealist looked every inch a budding star when he let loose with a sizzling turn of foot.
A half-brother by Tale of the Cat to four-time Group One winner Racing to Win, Purrealist (pictured as a yearling) was purchased for $700,000 by astute bloodstock agent John Foote from the draft of Coolmore Stud at the 2006 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
He is the most expensive yearling sired by Tale of the Cat to be sold in Australasia so far and his yearling full brother is the next highest, having made $625,000 to the bid of Anthony Cummings at Magic Millions earlier this year for Oaklands Stud.
Purrealist is the fourth foal of the Kenny’s Best Pal mare Surrealist, who was purchased by Coolmore last year at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale for a sale-topping $1.6 million.
A glorious dapple-gray mare, she produced a colt by Champion Sprinter Fastnet Rock last spring and is now in foal to Racing to Win’s sire Encosta de Lago.
