21st April 2007
The Phillip Stokes trained filly Fasline (2f Fasliyev – Umaline, by Umatilla) made a winning debut at Morphettville in Adelaide on Saturday when she won the Listed SAJC My Rewards Stakes over 1050 metres.Ridden forward to lead, the Fasliyev filly kicked strongly in the straight and held too many guns at the finish for Danedina (2f Danehill Dancer x Aradina, by Monde Bleu) in scoring by a neck.
Retained to race by her breeders, Fasline is the second foal of classy mare Umaline, a winner of five races and $696,095 highlighted by Group Two victories in the VRC A.V. Kewney Stakes and SAJC Swettenham Stud Stakes.
The current yearling colt from Umaline by Encosta de Lago fetched $200,000 at the Adelaide Magic Millions for Kambula Stud earlier this year, knocked down to Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock.
Fasline is the 20th stakes-winner worldwide for Fasliyev, who shuttled to Australia for five seasons between 2000 and 2004.
