Catcher In The Rye off the mark

Catcher In The Rye had his first winner when the Kevin Ryan-trained Kersaint (2c Catcher In The Rye - Quivala by Thunder Gulch) made a successful debut in a five-furlong maiden at Leicester.

Ryan, who was enjoying his first two-year-old success of the fledgling 2007 Flat season, believes there is improvement to come from Brendan Hayes’s home-bred colt.

"I am delighted by the way he has run as physically he is there but mentally he seems to have a bit of growing up to do and whatever he did today he would improve for the run," said Ryan. "He can only go on from here."
