Three new sons of Danehill for Coolmore Australia

10th April 2007

Like both Danehill Dancer and Rock of Gibraltar, Holy Roman Emperor was an exceptional 2-year-old scoring twice at Group 1 level. In February of this year he was still second favourite for the 2,000 Guineas when he was quickly retired to stud in order to facilitate the clients with mares booked to George Washington who was experiencing fertility problems. With both Encosta de Lago and Flying Spur appearing under his second dam, Holy Roman Emperor has all the attributes required to make a top stallion.

Dual Group 1 winner Aussie Rules is out of the extremely talented racemare Last Second who landed the Nassau Stakes and Sun Chariot Stakes as a 3-year-old, both of which have since been promoted to Group 1 status. She is also a half-sister to the dams of four Group 1 winners including dual Champion Stakes winner Alborada and Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Yesterday. A Group winner at Newmarket as a juvenile, Aussie Rules proved himself an exceptional 3-year-old by landing the French 2,000 Guineas-Gr.1 and the Shadwell Turf Mile-Gr.1 at Keeneland.

Out of Breeders’ Cup Distaff winner Hollywood Wildcat and a half-brother to Breeders’ Cup Mile winner War Chant, Ivan Denisovich was bred to be very good - and very good he most certainly was. A top 2-year-old he landed the July Stakes-Gr.2 before running second in the Prix Morny-Gr.1 on unsuitably soft ground. As a 3-year-old he won the Solonaway Stakes in Ireland and was placed at Grade 1 level on each of his three sorties to the United States.
