Choisir has first northern hemisphere winner

7th April 2007

His first Australian-sired crop have already made a huge impression and - just a week into Britain’s 2007 turf Flat season - Choisir has enjoyed his first northern hemisphere juvenile success.

Fat Boy (2c Choisir - Gold Shift by Night Shift), bred by Peter Mooney, looked the type to go on to much better things after landing a smart five-furlong maiden at Kempton Park with the minimum of fuss. The Racing Post felt "he looked the sort who could run up a sequence."

Trained by Richard Hannon, he was scoring just four weeks after being bought for £70,000 at the Goffs breeze-up sale at the same venue by agent Ross Doyle.

"He is a strong horse. He sprinted clear and will be even better over six or seven furlongs," said Hannon of the well-backed favourite. "Choisir will be a good stallion and thank God I’ve got about five of them."
