ASHFORD STALLIONS FINISH 1-2 IN G2 SAN ANTONIO

Ashford stallions ROYAL ACADEMY and GRAND SLAM posted a 1-2 finish in the G2 San Antonio Handicap at Santa Anita on Sunday, as MOLENGAO (Royal Academy -- Court Lady, by Locris) caught BALL FOUR (Grand Slam -- Making Faces, by Lyphard) at the wire to win the 1 1/8 mile test by a head. MOLENGAO, under Garrett Gomez for the first time, ran near the back of the field until the early stretch, when he came off the rail and was able to catch pacesetter BALL FOUR in the final strides. It was the first graded stakes win of 2007 for ROYAL ACADEMY.
